Software version 1.8 for Panasonic’s live video production platform increases support for higher IP-based resolutions, and improves flexibility at large-scale events.

Bracknell, UK. 29th January 2025 – Panasonic Connect Europe has today launched the latest software for its KAIROS state-of-the-art live video production platform, improving efficiency and quality of large-scale live video production. Software version 1.8 offers Multiple Core Control functionality, integration with live graphics platforms, and support for a greater number and variety of high, IP-based resolutions.

Improving efficiency for large-scale productions

Where previously multiple control panels were required to operate multiple KAIROS Core mainframes, Multiple Core Control enables two KAIROS mainframes to be operated from a single control panel. This allows more video sources to be handled, increasing efficiency, especially at large events.

Version 1.8 also expands internal processing up to 4:4:4 16-bit and outputs up to 4:4:4 12-bit. It also supports an increasingly diverse range of higher-resolution IP-based ST 2110 inputs and outputs, such as 16:9, 16:10, 5:4, and DCI (2K/4K). These can easily accommodate shots of any size, especially when working with large displays, such as LED walls.

Closer integration with KAIROS Alliance Partners

Version 1.8 includes support for HTML5, enabling graphics generated by KAIROS Alliance Partners to be entered directly into the KAIROS platform. This makes it easier to use graphics such as scores, statuses and tickers from KAIROS Painter, as there is no need to convert files before importing them into the KAIROS platform.

Version 1.8 also provides increased compatibility with other KAIROS Alliance Partner products, such as SKAARHOJ’s audio-controlled Wave Board, Quick Shot Pro and Quick Shot, and Raw Panel mode.

“We have introduced version 1.8 to ensure our KAIROS video production platform remains easy-to-use, whilst offering the necessary freedom for producers who continuously require high quality, rich video production in multiple locations,” said Andre Meterian, Director of Professional Video Systems for Panasonic Connect Europe. “We will continue to update KAIROS to meet the needs of the industry, such as video production facilities that use a wide variety of equipment, and large broadcasters and live event venues that need to flexibly adapt to large and small shots when using LED displays.”

New firmware for live switchers enhances flexibility

Panasonic has announced version 3.0 of its firmware for the AV-HSW10 compact live switcher, which includes NDI®* High Bandwidth mode[1] for the first time. Doubling existing input capacity, NDI® High Bandwidth simplifies the operation of NDI®-centric systems when connected to Panasonic PTZ cameras and other compatible devices.

Panasonic is also launching firmware version 1.7 for its AV-UHS500 live switcher. This enhances functionality and usability, especially when integrating Panasonic PTZ cameras with other Panasonic products. Available in Q1 CY2025, both firmware updates will enable Panasonic’s live switchers to offer increased flexibility in response to the growing demand for video production and distribution in live entertainment environments, seminars, events, and more.
